Ondine (2010)
Ondine is a fantasy-drama film by Neil Jordan and features the star Colin Farrell and Alicja Bachleda. The movie tells the story of an Irish fisherman named Syracuse which is played Collin Farrell who discovers a woman named Ondine (Bachleda) in his fishing net whom he believes to be a selkie or mermaid. Different theories about her origins come about as she integrates herself into the community. Syracuse's partly-disabled daughter Annie, comes to believe that the woman is a magical creature, while Syracuse himself falls in love with her. However, like all fairy tales, enchantment and darkness go hand in hand.
The term "Ondine" when searched on wikis online, is based on a mythology about a nymph who is said to be able to gain a soul by marrying a man and bearing his child.
The movie was set to be released on June 4, 2010 and received several awards and nominations from the 7th Irish Film and Television awards including the Best Actor in A Lead Role where Colin Farrell won it.
