The story of the movie surround with the 9-year old kid named Milo who realized how important his mom was and that is also the same time that his mother was abducted by the Martians. Of course Milo will not just stand looking at the stars and wait for his mom to come back.That's why the adventure begin with him as he tried to save his mother from the aliens. An adventure where he met the leader of the Martians, the Supervisor, Earthman Gribble, Two-Cat and the rebellious Martian Ki. All in one single movie.

With regards to the box office performance of this movie, a lot of people did watch Mars Needs Moms over its opening making it to hit the top 10 box office chart but only earned a gross revenue of over $11 million out of its $150 million production cost. A long way for the film to reach even a break even. But of course, the film is still on the way to international release so this figures might increase but doesn't really assure block buster.
