Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy the movie is an upcoming 2011 English-language espionage film which is proudly brought to you by Focus Features. The film brings you into the bleak days of the Cold War, the time when the espionage veteran George Smiley is being forced of getting out from his semi-retirement in order to uncover a Soviet agent within the MI6's echelons.

The film is set in the year 1973, the year during the aftermath of the cold war. The story of the film follows the search for a Soviet double agent at the top of the British secret service. During this time, the Cold war of the mid-20th Century continues to damage international relations. SIS or the Secret intelligence Service of Britain or also known as the MI6 and code-named the Circus, is striving to keep pace with the other countries’ espionage efforts to keep the U.K. secure. The British intelligence officer George Smiley just recently came out of retirement when he was summoned to uncover a Russian double agent. In the meantime, Agent Ricki Tarr had been sent out to head to Istanbul to investigate a Soviet agent named Boris. Meanwhile, the head of the Circus who is known as Control personally sends dedicated operative Jim Prideaux into Hungary. But Jim’s mission, however, will be very dangerous and it will end up into a bloody war. Control will also be forced out of the Circus, so as his top Lieutenant George Smiley.

The film is directed by Tomas Alfredson and it is from a screenplay written by Bridget O’Connor and Peter Straughan. The film is loosely based on the 1974 novel of the same title written by John le Carre. The stars included in the film are Gary Oldman, the one who will play as George Smiley, and co-stars Colin Firth, tom Hardy, John Hurt, Toby Jones, Mark Strong and many others.
